Role Overview
The role is for professional Drivers who will manage daily transportation and the upkeep of Nova Pioneer’s vehicle fleet at Tatu Primary and Athi River Primary, starting August 2026. Drivers will ensure safe transit of students and staff, maintain schedules, and oversee mechanical conditions of assigned vehicles.
Key Duties
- Operate school vehicles in compliance with legislation and organizational policies.
- Maintain the door-to-door pickup and drop-off policy for students.
- Adhere to planned routes and scheduled timings.
- Collaborate with the bus assistant to uphold discipline onboard.
- Document and report vehicle defects daily.
- Observe all traffic laws and speed limits.
- Refuel vehicles according to schedule.
- Safely transport students for educational trips and other school events.
- Record mileage, departure times, and destinations before trips.
- Conduct daily inspections of tyres, oil levels, coolant, and lights.
- Keep vehicles clean every day.
- Inform Transport Manager promptly about accidents, delays, route changes, or other incidents.
- Follow emergency procedures as per policy.
- Securely park vehicles on campus and during trips.
- Ensure all students are onboard before departure and enforce passenger conduct rules.
- Maintain order and discipline within the vehicle.
- Carry out additional tasks such as errands, staff transport, and emergency hospital trips as assigned.
Compliance and Safety
- Follow internal policies including the Transport Policy and Employee Handbook.
- Maintain current licenses, permits, and certifications per national and county regulations.
- Champion health and safety by conducting weekly workplace inspections.
- Participate in health and safety committees and initiatives.
- Handle equipment responsibly following safety guidelines.
- Report unsafe conditions to supervisors and maintain safe operating conditions in workshops.

- Strictly implement the door-to-door transport policy and operating procedures.

Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Auto-mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Good knowledge of highway codes and school bus regulations.
- Valid PSV license.
- Class BCE driving license held for over eight years.
- Recent Certificate of Good Conduct within six months.
- Recommendations from three former employers.
- Minimum two years’ experience in school bus transportation.
- Strong client service and public interaction capabilities.
- Analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
- Effective verbal communication and listening skills.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
