Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Safety & Risk Coordinator to lead workplace safety efforts, ensure compliance with regulations, and help sustain a secure and efficient manufacturing environment. Reporting to the COO, this position involves cross-departmental collaboration to enhance employee wellbeing and promote a safety culture.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and refine company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, MSDS/SDS, and all relevant federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Conduct comprehensive facility safety audits, ergonomic evaluations, and risk assessments.
- Identify hazards within the workplace and execute corrective measures.
- Oversee employee safety incentive initiatives.
- Partner with facility teams to uphold a safe working environment.
- Coordinate fire protection inspections and enhance facility safety programs.
- Develop, deliver, and monitor employee safety training; lead new hire orientation and conduct regular safety meetings.
- Maintain training documentation and certifications, continuously evaluating program effectiveness.
- Investigate workplace incidents, perform root cause analyses, manage corrective action plans, and handle required reporting.
- Administer workers' compensation claims and coordinate return-to-work and light-duty efforts.
- Interface with insurance providers, medical professionals, and affected employees.
- Support machine risk assessments and safety validations, including evaluation of safeguarding systems and compliance with ANSI, ISO, and OSHA standards.
- Assist in machine safety during construction, installation, and customer acceptance phases.
- Review safety performance metrics with leadership and suggest enhancements.
- Manage PPE and safety supply inventories and coordinate contractor/vendor safety activities.
- Support facility security measures, visitor safety, and wellness initiatives in collaboration with HR.
- Champion safe work practices organization-wide.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of manufacturing safety experience.
- Proficiency in managing workplace safety programs and maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of OSHA standards and manufacturing safety protocols.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across departments.
Preferred:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Safety, Facilities Management, Maintenance Technology, or related areas.
- Experience managing workers' compensation and return-to-work programs.
- Certifications such as CSP, OHST, CIH.
- Machinery safety credentials like CMSE, TÜV Functional Safety Engineer, or equivalent.
- Experience conducting machine risk assessments in industrial automation settings.
