Job description

About Zipline

Zipline operates the world's leading drone delivery network, focused on providing critical supplies like food, medicine, and essential goods rapidly and reliably worldwide. Their extensive autonomous logistics system spans four continents, delivering medical and retail products every 30 seconds and having completed millions of successful deliveries to date. Their clientele includes major healthcare systems, governments, retailers, and global enterprises, all benefiting from faster delivery, reduced emissions, and enhanced supply chains.

Role Overview

The Dual Operator position involves supporting both warehouse fulfillment and drone flight operations to facilitate the timely and safe delivery of medical and veterinary supplies. This cross-trained role requires hands-on involvement in inventory tasks and drone launch/recovery procedures, emphasizing safety, accuracy, and operational excellence in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle inventory management: receiving, inspecting, storing products under specified quality and temperature protocols.
  • Pick, pack, label, and verify order accuracy and compliance to safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct routine stocktaking, inventory tracking, and product receiving duties while maintaining a clean and safe warehouse per SOPs.
  • Assist with drone launch and recovery by preparing Zips, completing pre- and post-flight checks, and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor flights via Fleetdeck software, report operational abnormalities, and escalate issues through ticketing systems and shift handovers.
  • Collaborate with fulfillment teams, flight operators, and call centers for smooth operational alignment and contribute to incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Engage in continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, supporting corrective measures, and participating in quality and operational enhancement projects.
  • Promote team culture through training participation, peer coaching, and embodying Zipline’s values in daily work.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess a diploma, HND, vocational certificate, or equivalent training in relevant fields like engineering, electronics, mechanics, healthcare, veterinary studies, or operational disciplines.
  • Recent graduates or individuals with up to 2 years of experience interested in operational, logistics, aviation, or technical roles.
  • Capable of handling physically demanding tasks including standing, walking, lifting items over 10 kg, working outdoors, and adapting to fast-paced conditions.
  • High attention to detail with consistent adherence to SOPs during repetitive, precision-oriented work.
  • Basic proficiency with computers and operational tools, including handheld devices and monitoring platforms.
  • Ability to remain composed, focused, and prioritize safety throughout operational procedures and incident responses.

Additional Information

  • Applicants must legally be permitted to work in Rwanda and be willing to relocate to any of Zipline’s distribution centers in Muhanga, Kayonza, or Karongi.
  • The role requires availability for 24/7 shift work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week.
  • This is a full-time position based onsite at the distribution center, offered initially as a one-year contract.
  • New hires will undergo extensive training through Zipline Academy encompassing operational systems, drone technology, fulfillment processes, and safety protocols.
