About the Role
Transport for NSW is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team in Cooma, NSW, to help maintain and improve road infrastructure across regional areas. As a road worker, you will be a crucial member of a committed team responsible for construction, maintenance, and snow management to ensure safe, dependable, and efficient transportation for the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform road construction, maintenance, and snow clearing operations throughout the road network.
- Maintain and enhance pavement structures, drainage systems, road signage, and furniture.
- Assist in building new and upgraded road infrastructure.
- Work collaboratively in a safety-focused outdoor environment.
- Participate in winter snow clearing duties including on-call and weekend shifts.

Location and Availability
There are two permanent full-time positions located at the Cooma Works Depot. Candidates must live within 100 km driving distance of this site. The role requires willingness to work outside regular hours, including call-outs and potential travel across the district.
Candidate Profile
Ideal applicants bring a strong work ethic, dependability, and a positive mindset gained through work, education, volunteering, or life experience. The role suits proactive team players who take pride in quality work, prioritize safety and efficiency, and show eagerness to learn. Prior experience in road construction or laboring is advantageous but not mandatory.
Essential Requirements
- Current Construction Industry White Card certification.
- Valid Class C Driver License (minimum P1).
- Willingness and ability to obtain Traffic Controller accreditation within three months of starting.
- Residence within a 100 km radius of Cooma Works Depot.
- Capability to operate safely in environments with high-speed and high-volume traffic.
- Flexibility to work outside business hours, attend emergency call-outs, travel, and stay away from home as needed.
