Position Summary

The Residential Waste Picker will be accountable for the safe and effective collection of residential, commercial, or industrial waste and recyclable products along assigned routes. This role is vital in supporting public health by guaranteeing punctual service delivery, compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and courteous community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Strictly follow Miller Waste Systems’ safety procedures and maintain knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act regulations.
• Collect waste and recyclable materials promptly and efficiently as per designated routes.
• Maintain high productivity and demonstrate excellent customer service skills during interactions.
• Comply fully with Miller Waste Systems and provincial health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic are essential.
• Demonstrate eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge in daily tasks.
• Strong team orientation along with safe working practices and a clean driving record.
• Flexible schedule adaptability, including potentially varied start and finish times.
• Physical ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds is required.
• A physically active lifestyle is advantageous; prior waste industry experience is a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work early mornings, late evenings, and rarely on weekends.

Additional Information

This is a permanent full-time role located at 8 Moore Road, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, starting immediately with typical working hours Monday to Friday beginning at 6:30 am. Compensation is set at $21.47 per hour.
