Role Overview
This position involves medical coding within a hospital environment, focusing on assigning appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes following ICD-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines to support accurate billing and reimbursement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assign ICD-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes accurately to patient records.
- Determine Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRGs) and Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs).
- Work collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation and coding requirements.
- Provide training to newly onboarded coding personnel.
- Maintain compliance and precision in coding processes to ensure appropriate reimbursement.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Possession of professional coding credentials such as CCA, CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS-H.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding protocols and standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a healthcare team.
Work Setting
This role allows for remote working arrangements for residents of Illinois, with occasional on-site duties as required by The VIOS Clinic.
