The centre offers diverse treatments including psychological interventions, medication management, peer support, occupational functioning, and physical health programs.

Role Summary

As a Psychiatric Nurse, you will deliver compassionate and professional care to service users, supporting their health and wellbeing while helping them achieve meaningful lives through tailored support plans. The role involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining professional relationships, and engaging in continuous skill development.

Daily Responsibilities

• Join a dynamic team in specialist inpatient mental health services.
• Ensure safe management and administration of medications.
• Provide frontline nursing care supporting all service users effectively.
• Assist in creating and implementing Health Assessments, Medication Plans, and other support documentation like personal, epilepsy, and diabetic plans.
• Deliver Health Action Plans appropriately for each individual.
• Foster positive relationships with primary healthcare providers in the community.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively.
• Identify individual support needs in partnership with service users, families, and other stakeholders.
• Support patients attending health appointments and follow through on care recommendations.
• Maintain strict confidentiality relating to patients and staff.
• Promote person-centered planning through key worker systems and shared goal setting.
• Contribute to developing and implementing relevant operational documents and policies.
• Encourage community involvement opportunities for service users.
• Assist Director of Nursing with report preparation and presentations as required.

Qualifications and Knowledge

• Must be registered on the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
• Solid understanding of medication management practices.
• Insight into the specific needs of individuals requiring psychiatric care.

Experience and Skills

• Practical nursing experience within a psychiatric setting preferred.
• Proven ability to relate supportively to service users.
• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and on own initiative.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt.
• Dependability and flexibility in work approach.
• Good organizational and computer skills.
• Self-driven and motivated.
