Project Officer

Position Overview

This full-time permanent role as Project Officer supports the management and execution of infrastructure construction projects. You will assist the Project Manager throughout all stages including planning, procurement, construction, and contract oversight. Key tasks include managing project documentation, site activity supervision ensuring adherence to technical, safety, environmental and quality standards, and contributing to the control of project scope, schedule and budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the Council effectively on-site across various infrastructure projects.
• Manage contract works directly to ensure successful project delivery.
• Plan projects by reviewing and agreeing on briefs, scopes, responsibilities, programs, budgets, and stakeholder involvement.
• Conduct stakeholder consultations and maintain a communications register.
• Utilize diverse communication tools such as emails, letters and forms proficiently.
• Develop comprehensive Project Management Plans.
• Ensure all necessary permits and planning approvals are obtained prior to project commencement.
• Monitor Environmental, Quality, and WHS management plans to maintain compliance.
• Formulate procurement strategies and administer tendering processes including drafting Request for Tender (RFT) documents and evaluating submissions.
• Prepare letters, correspondence, identify risks, and review contractor management systems.
• Create and monitor Gantt charts to track milestones.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and cost plan estimates.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Architecture, Building, Construction, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Surveying, Project Management or a related discipline, or substantial experience in the building or construction sector.
• Proven track record in construction project delivery encompassing procurement, scheduling, budgeting, quality assurance and contract monitoring.
• Possession of a current NSW General Construction Induction card (White Card) or a recognized equivalent from another state.
• Valid NSW Class C driver’s licence or equivalent.
• Authorization to work in Australia documented.

Benefits and Working Conditions

• Salary range: $94,794 to $108,886 gross per annum, plus 12% superannuation.
• 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with an option to use flexible working hours.
• Work location: Nowra Administration Building, Bridge Road, Nowra.
