Overview

At LAUSD, significant efforts are underway to build and modernize schools throughout the district. The Project Development Manager is crucial in leading the early phases of these projects, managing all pre-construction activities including planning and coordination for new and renovation projects. This role involves overseeing the scope, schedule, and budget across multiple projects, guiding them from planning and design through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead pre-construction planning and coordination for school construction and modernization initiatives.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, and budgets concurrently for multiple projects.
  • Supervise Assistant Facility Development Managers, Design Managers, and external design consultants.
  • Evaluate architectural and engineering contracts including scopes, fees, and payment processes; oversee overall financial management of projects.
  • Collaborate with utility providers and governmental bodies to ensure timely approvals and compliance.
  • Provide comprehensive project status reports and analyses to District leadership and Board members.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading capital project planning, design, construction, and coordination.
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience scoping and planning in new construction and modernization.
  • Knowledge of LEED and/or Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) standards.
