Overview
Bird Construction is seeking experienced Project Coordinators interested in future opportunities aligned with project progression from planning to execution phases. This role is based in Sudbury, Ontario, with possible fly-in/fly-out arrangements depending on project needs. As a Project Coordinator, you will report to the Project Manager and collaborate closely with both Project Managers and Superintendents, managing all production necessities encompassing safety, quality control, administrative tasks, scheduling, cost oversight, communication, and coordination with clients, subcontractors, and craftspeople.
Primary Duties
- Organize and maintain project documentation and site files, managing electronic document databases or shared file platforms.
- Assist in developing and implementing the overall work plans and timelines.
- Keep project documents—including drawings, plans, submittals, logs, and purchase orders—accurately updated and current.
- Review progress payment applications and certificates related to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Engage with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers on contract matters, change notices, design updates, Requests for Information (RFIs), and Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
- Prepare for and participate in meetings involving project teams and external stakeholders, ensuring detailed meeting minutes are promptly circulated.
- Support final document turnover to clients upon project completion and coordinate the prompt resolution of deficiencies.
- Maintain awareness of project progress and inform the Project Manager and relevant parties of status and potential challenges.
- Provide additional technical office assistance as required by the project team.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering.
- Have three to five years of project support experience, ideally with an Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) general contractor or subcontractor.
- Experience in comprehensive heavy civil construction projects such as dam building, extensive earthworks, and structural concrete work.
- Demonstrate effective teamwork skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, specifications, and drawings competently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including MS Project; familiarity with SharePoint is advantageous.
- Strong organizational abilities and time management skills to prioritize work efficiently amid increasing project demands.
