The company’s goal is to be seen as a leading logistics partner across the African market by providing freight and management services that are efficient, secure, and compliant.
Role summary
This position is responsible for managing the relationship between FAMS and a client company, along with the client’s subcontractors involved in the project. The client will be confirmed after hiring.
The role works closely with FAMS operations teams across road, air, and ocean freight to coordinate the arrival, customs clearance, and final delivery of all materials to the project site. It also involves building reports, tracking KPIs, maintaining SOPs, and using performance data to identify financial and operational improvements.
The account manager will coordinate with client leadership and operational teams on planning, inventory stocking, and material delivery based on the client’s requirements. A strong understanding of the oil and gas sector in Zimbabwe is expected to develop over time.
Reporting structure
This role reports directly to the FAMS Director, with dotted-line reporting to the FAMS Zimbabwe Operations Head and the client’s logistics manager.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the working relationship between FAMS and the client.
- Act as the client’s main point of contact for operational, financial, and business development matters.
- Identify opportunities to grow the relationship through additional projects and value-added services.
- Ensure all work remains aligned with senior FAMS Zimbabwe leadership and client management.
- Handle accounts receivable, invoicing, and performance-related matters raised by either FAMS or the client so that AR exposure stays low and operational KPIs and targets are achieved.
- Gather client requirements for RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, and prepare quotations and tender submissions when needed.
- Create SOPs and process maps for the client in coordination with the relevant departmental heads.
- Share regular updates and reports with both the client and FAMS management/line manager.
- Provide daily shipment tracking for all imports and exports in transit.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of logistics offerings, including air, ocean, and road freight, as well as warehousing.
- Proven experience in project logistics management.
- At least 2 years of experience in a customer-facing sales position.
- Professional, well-groomed, and confident in presentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with digital record keeping and monthly reporting.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets, presentations, and Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- 5 O’ levels including Mathematics and English, or a professional qualification/equivalent experience.
