Our client is a well-established precision engineering firm based in County Louth, Ireland, servicing highly regulated industries such as Medical Devices, Aerospace, and Electronics. Operating from a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, they provide fully integrated component solutions for clients both locally and internationally.
Role Overview
As a Production Planner reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining an accurate, reliable production schedule that aligns customer demand with available materials and manufacturing capacity. The role involves hands-on management of production plans using Microsoft Excel, emphasizing precision and constant updates to reflect evolving production activity and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate monthly production plans driven by customer forecasts, orders, and operational capabilities.
- Create and regularly update detailed weekly production schedules using Microsoft Excel.
- Track production progress, identifying and addressing discrepancies from planned schedules.
- Ensure production plans accurately represent customer demand, material availability, and current manufacturing operations.
- Notify relevant management about potential delays, capacity limits, and production bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Procurement, Production, and Engineering teams to prioritize tasks and solve scheduling challenges.
- Support urgent customer orders, prototypes, and adjust to dynamic production demands.
- Develop inventory schedules to guarantee material availability aligned with production needs.
- Generate purchase requisitions consistent with production requirements.
- Liaise with Procurement on supplier lead times and component stock levels.
- Maintain key performance indicators related to planning and assist in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in enhancing and evolving the overall production planning process.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, comfortable with managing complex and rapidly changing datasets.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong dedication to accurate data management.
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, master data management, or supply chain coordination.
- Preferably previous exposure to manufacturing environments.
- Ability to analyze demand, inventory, and production data to create effective plans.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to manage conflicting departmental demands.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and analytical thinking.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, ideally Epicor, is advantageous.
- Qualifications in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related fields will be an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range from 45,000 to 50,000 annually, contingent on experience.
- Eligible for company performance-related bonuses.
