Role Summary and Responsibilities
As a Procurement Operations Professional, you will handle purchase order processing and execute tactical sourcing activities, employing your understanding of category-specific suppliers to negotiate effectively while complying with IBM's Procurement guidelines.
- Process purchase orders by managing requests from IBM clients, negotiating with suppliers, and completing purchases under IBM Procurement policies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with IBM clients and suppliers via clear and effective communication channels.
- Identify and resolve procurement issues including clearing aged purchase orders and resolving blocked invoices.
- Conduct market research and collaborate with other buyers to stay informed about trends and benchmarks in relevant commodity markets.
- Utilize IBM’s procurement tools proficiently to process purchase orders and accurately document supplier and purchase order data.
Education Requirements
A Bachelor's degree is preferred for this role.
Technical and Professional Expertise
- Familiarity with category knowledge and supplier negotiations.
- Practical experience using procurement tools for purchase order processing and documentation.
- Understanding of purchasing workflows and strong problem-solving skills in procurement contexts.
- Experience in analyzing market intelligence and benchmarking commodities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for supplier negotiation and client management.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Knowledge of category management principles and practices.
- Experience with procurement analytics to assess market trends and benchmarks.
- Understanding of sourcing strategies and methodologies aimed at optimizing purchasing and enhancing supplier relations.
