Role Overview
The Process Controller specializing in Fabric Quality is tasked with overseeing the final quality inspection of fabric, utilizing the 4-point inspection method. This role ensures all fabric batches leaving the facility meet established quality criteria and compiles detailed Quality Summary Reports.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the 4-point fabric inspection procedure at vendor sites.
- Identify and assess fabric defects encompassing weaving issues, dyeing, finishing flaws, and evaluate packing standards.
- Draft inspection reports for each lot and determine the overall quality status.
- Confirm that fabric properties such as GSM, width, color, and hand feel conform to specified standards.
- Analyze shade consistency, recording any variations in line with approved grading standards.
- Audit fabric roll lengths versus declared measurements.
- Highlight any inconsistencies between physical fabric samples and associated documentation before inspection.
- Liaise with testing laboratories for sample collection and obtaining test results.
- Interpret and record test outcomes from in-house, vendor, and third-party sources.
- Ensure regular calibration of inspection and testing instruments according to planned schedules.
- Verify completion of all required tests before authorizing shipments.
- Maintain fabric standards, including approved lab dips and shade bands, for reference.
- Consolidate quality data from inspections, hand feel, color assessments, and testing into Quality Summary Reports.
- Keep thorough records of inspections both physically and digitally.
- Document daily inspection volumes and monitor quality key performance indicators.
- Report recurring defects and abnormal quality trends to relevant stakeholders.
- Detect and segregate fabric rolls that do not meet quality standards, assigning Hold or Reject status appropriately.
- Ensure rejected materials are physically quarantined to prevent incorrect dispatches.
- Check compliance of roll packaging and labeling through mandatory packing audits.
- Coordinate shipment dispatch activities at vendor locations to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Engage in quality training, awareness sessions, and calibration exercises to maintain and enhance inspection expertise.
Education and Experience
- Possess any degree, ideally in Apparel, Fabric, or Textile-related fields.
- Have 3 to 4 years of practical experience in fabric inspection.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fabric quality inspection within the textile industry is preferred, though experience in apparel or garment sectors is also valued.
