Probationary Elementary Teacher (Math AIS) - Heim Elementary

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid New York State Elementary Certification (K-6) or both Early Childhood B-2 and Childhood Education 1-6 certifications.
• Proven successful teaching experience as a tenured educator in grades K-6; preference given to those with experience in remediating students in mathematics.
• Strong belief in the potential of all children to excel, with an emphasis on nurturing, encouragement, and challenge.
• Demonstrated commitment to exceeding standard job expectations, including active contribution to the school community.
• Extensive training and hands-on experience in delivering effective mathematical teaching practices.
• Familiarity with and use of the "concrete, pictorial, abstract" instructional progression and research-based effective math teaching strategies.

• Comprehensive understanding of elementary mathematics concepts.
• Knowledge of the Thoughtful Classroom Teacher Effectiveness Framework or equivalent state-approved teacher evaluation systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain regular communication and collaborate closely with the Director of Mathematics.
• Implement district-wide intervention structures and models as outlined.
• Engage in research-focused discussions and initiatives to enhance math instruction.
• Participate in professional development on math interventions and assessments.
• Keep accurate and compliant records per laws, policies, and program requirements.
• Enhance students' mathematical understanding and support their success in math classes.
• Use diverse assessment tools to identify students eligible for Academic Intervention Services and to guide instructional decisions.
• Provide focused additional instructional time tailored to student needs to meet learning standards.
• Communicate effectively with administrators, parents, and students.
• Consistently collaborate and plan with classroom teachers and other specialists.
• Create engaging, research-based instructional environments in alignment with district initiatives under the direction of the Instructional Specialist for Mathematics.
• Utilize manipulatives and hands-on learning activities to enhance student discovery of math content.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction or designee.

Additional Information

• Reports to the Building Principal and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.
• Salary range is from $47,200 to $53,700 annually based on the WTA Contract.
