Qualifications
- Possession of a valid New York State Elementary Certification (K-6) or both Early Childhood B-2 and Childhood Education 1-6 certifications.
- Proven successful teaching experience as a tenured educator in grades K-6; preference given to those with experience in remediating students in mathematics.
- Strong belief in the potential of all children to excel, with an emphasis on nurturing, encouragement, and challenge.
- Demonstrated commitment to exceeding standard job expectations, including active contribution to the school community.
- Extensive training and hands-on experience in delivering effective mathematical teaching practices.
- Familiarity with and use of the "concrete, pictorial, abstract" instructional progression and research-based effective math teaching strategies.

- Comprehensive understanding of elementary mathematics concepts.
- Knowledge of the Thoughtful Classroom Teacher Effectiveness Framework or equivalent state-approved teacher evaluation systems.
- In-depth awareness of research-supported instructional best practices and curriculum alignment across grade levels to meet student needs.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
- Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with staff, colleagues, parents, and educational stakeholders.
- Skilled in fostering adult learning, creative problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal relations to create a positive environment for continuous improvement.
- Effective use of written and verbal communication.
- Exemplary classroom management and student engagement capabilities.
- Collaborative work style with peers and supervisors.
- Proven ability to manage time efficiently and plan thoroughly.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain regular communication and collaborate closely with the Director of Mathematics.
- Implement district-wide intervention structures and models as outlined.
- Engage in research-focused discussions and initiatives to enhance math instruction.
- Participate in professional development on math interventions and assessments.
- Keep accurate and compliant records per laws, policies, and program requirements.
- Enhance students' mathematical understanding and support their success in math classes.
- Use diverse assessment tools to identify students eligible for Academic Intervention Services and to guide instructional decisions.
- Provide focused additional instructional time tailored to student needs to meet learning standards.
- Communicate effectively with administrators, parents, and students.
- Consistently collaborate and plan with classroom teachers and other specialists.
- Create engaging, research-based instructional environments in alignment with district initiatives under the direction of the Instructional Specialist for Mathematics.
- Utilize manipulatives and hands-on learning activities to enhance student discovery of math content.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction or designee.
Additional Information
- Reports to the Building Principal and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.
- Salary range is from $47,200 to $53,700 annually based on the WTA Contract.
