Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The role involves steering strategic policy creation and the execution of reforms that result in tangible benefits such as increased housing, improved community connectivity, and a robust Queensland economy. You will manage and refine land use planning policies and project initiatives throughout all stages of the policy lifecycle, ensuring delivery of superior quality outputs amidst a dynamic environment. Leadership responsibilities include overseeing team performance, mentoring for productivity and standard adherence, and fostering an effective working culture.

Core Duties

• Lead the development and influence of comprehensive land use planning strategies, policies, and project plans within a fast-paced policy context.
• Conduct thorough research and analysis of planning and relevant legislation, monitoring emerging trends to provide well-founded advice to senior officials.
• Utilize proactive communication to brief management and senior officials on issues, risks, and solution progress.
• Prepare clear, concise, and high-quality documentation—including briefs, reports, submissions, and correspondence—customized for ministers, senior executives, and stakeholders.
• Establish and sustain productive relationships with internal teams, peers, senior public sector officers, and external organizations, effectively representing Planning Policy in various forums.
