Principal Engineer, Full Stack

The Principal Engineer will act as a hands-on technical leader, helping the organisation design and build high-impact software, guide engineering direction, and influence product and commercial outcomes. The position calls for someone who is comfortable writing strong code, mentoring peers, and setting technical standards while also contributing to long-term architecture and strategy.

Work setup

This is a hybrid position with 3 days required in the office in Dublin.

What you will do

You will work across product development, platform design, and technical leadership, with a strong focus on AI-enabled systems and scalable engineering practices.

• Write production-quality code and lead through practical example, sharing expertise with other engineers.
• Champion modern AI-assisted development tools, methods, and workflows that improve delivery speed and product value.
• Shape the company-wide approach to AI/ML adoption, including intelligent automation, agent-style systems, and data-led product capabilities.
• Design and oversee core systems across engineering so they support independent iteration, scalability, and future business growth.
• Partner closely with the security function to define and improve security strategy across the organisation.
• Build a mentoring culture by coaching engineers in a supportive, open, and collaborative way.
• Navigate risk, uncertainty, and change with sound judgment in day-to-day work and high-pressure situations.
• Serve as a key technical driver for products in reputational risk and narrative intelligence, video verification and authenticity, and AI tools for journalists, researchers, and analysts.
• Split your time roughly 60–70% on building, prototyping, and pairing with teams, and 30–40% on architecture, strategy, mentoring, and cross-functional influence.

Candidate profile

The ideal person brings deep full-stack engineering expertise, a strong product mindset, and a track record of turning experimental ideas into shipped products. You should be comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, thinking strategically, and collaborating closely with product and business leaders.

Required experience and technical background

• At least 10 years of engineering experience, including work on foundational systems with clear business impact.
• Proven success in building prototypes and experimental products, then scaling them into production-grade releases.
• Strong full-stack capability with the ability to define and enforce technical standards, architecture patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Experience working with React, TypeScript, Python and/or Ruby.
• Hands-on background with PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
• Ability to help create or reshape roadmaps in partnership with product and business stakeholders.
• Clear, concise communication style with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
• Experience leading incident response and using systematic debugging to resolve issues across engineering environments.
