Role overview
Scale’s Global Public Sector organization is expanding quickly and focuses on applying AI to high-priority government challenges worldwide. The team’s work includes building tailored AI products that can affect millions of people, producing high-quality training data for national LLMs, and delivering advisory and upskilling support to help public-sector organizations adopt AI more effectively.
In this role, you will shape and own the production lifecycle of full-stack AI applications. The position calls for end-to-end reliability engineering, live inference monitoring, secure data orchestration, integration of high-security software systems, and resilient cloud infrastructure for international government partners.
This is an opportunity to help build mission-critical AI capabilities for the public sector and contribute as a founding member of a growing team.
What you will do
- Take responsibility for the long-term stability and performance of AI solutions used by international government organizations.
- Oversee the full health of the platform, making sure the AI core connects smoothly with APIs, user interfaces, and other application components.
- Design automation that tracks model quality and data drift across distributed environments so the system remains dependable at scale.
- Work within a variety of global regulatory and compliance requirements throughout the technical lifecycle.
- Lead incident response for critical production issues and establish safeguards to reduce repeat failures.
- Convert technical performance signals into clear, executive-ready updates for senior government stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Engineering and ML teams so lessons from production shape future architecture and product decisions.
What you should bring
- At least 6 years in a high-impact technical role such as SRE, FDE, or MLOps, with exposure to public-sector work.
- Working knowledge of international government security requirements and the challenges involved in sovereign AI deployment.
- Strong understanding of production application architecture, including the full request path from frontend and API layers through backend systems and AI services.
- Hands-on experience with modern AI infrastructure and development tools, including Kubernetes, vector databases, agentic development, and LLM observability platforms.
- A strong ownership mindset, with a proactive approach to resolving issues before customers experience them.
- A clear appreciation of reliability and risk, especially where system failures can affect public safety or privacy.
- The ability to communicate system degradation and remediation plans clearly to senior officials.
