About the Role
The Pricing Manager in the Ocean Export Department will be stationed at Ahmedabad (Science City Road) and will primarily be responsible for developing competitive freight quotes, negotiating with shipping lines and international agents, and supporting the sales team by providing accurate and timely ocean export pricing.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate and deliver competitive ocean export freight quotations for sales teams and customers.
- Liaise with shipping lines, NVOCCs, and foreign agents to gather freight rates and service particulars.
- Maintain and update the freight rates database alongside pricing sheets.
- Analyze market freight tariffs, trade routes, and carrier offerings to ensure pricing competitiveness.
- Provide support to sales teams for tender submissions and contract price formulation.
- Conduct rate negotiations with carriers to achieve cost-saving advantages.
- Ensure quotations comprehensively cover freight costs, local charges, surcharges, and transit details.
- Follow up on sent quotations and assist sales in converting leads into confirmed bookings.
- Manage records of quotations, contracts, and rate agreements diligently.
- Coordinate with operations and documentation teams to verify pricing information is accurate.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or Business Administration.
- Between 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in pricing or freight forwarding, with preference for ocean export expertise.
Required Skills
- In-depth understanding of ocean freight pricing and international trade lanes.
- Proven experience interacting with shipping lines and freight carriers.
- Competence in negotiation and data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and freight management information systems.
- Excellent communication and coordination capabilities.
Preferred Knowledge
- Prior experience within freight forwarding or logistics firms.
- Awareness of Incoterms, shipping documentation, and export procedures.
