Role overview
The Scion Group is looking to bring someone on board right away for a Porter role in Statesboro, GA. This position supports student housing communities by keeping outdoor areas and shared spaces clean, safe, and well maintained. The focus is on delivering dependable, resident-friendly service that helps create a comfortable community environment.

What the role involves
In this position, you will help maintain the appearance and condition of the property’s exterior and common amenities. Work includes landscaping support, trash pickup, snow and ice clearing, pool and spa cleaning, and general upkeep of shared facilities. You may also assist the maintenance team with cleaning or moving tasks as needed.
Core duties
- Keep the property in line with the company’s operating procedures, OSHA guidelines, and industry standards while performing physically active maintenance work.
- Remove trash and debris from shared areas on an ongoing basis.
- Sweep curbs, parking areas, walkways, and stairways according to schedule.
- Repair loose stair treads when needed.
- Replace burned-out exterior lights and report inventory needs to a supervisor.
- Mow lawn areas and clear away clippings on schedule.
- Rake leaves and clear debris from landscaped sections.
- Apply weed-and-feed treatments, overseed, and water lawn areas as needed.
- Install seasonal plants, replacement shrubs and trees, decorative rock, and water features.
- Trim and prune trees and shrubs as directed.
- Maintain, adjust, and repair irrigation systems and fountains when required.
- Clean the pool and spa according to manufacturer guidance and code requirements.
- Carry out routine repairs and maintenance on pool equipment as directed.
- Know emergency procedures, including the location and use of water and gas shutoff valves, sewer cleanouts, and fuse panels.
- Support safety awareness efforts to reduce the risk of property loss, damage, or injury to residents and visitors.
- Follow all property policies and procedures.
- Keep ground drainage grates clear of leaves and other debris.
- Pressure wash sidewalks, buildings, pool decks, and similar surfaces.
- Help with snow removal when necessary.
- Maintain the required uniform and present a professional image and attitude.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is dependable, punctual, comfortable working under deadlines, and flexible enough to respond to after-hours or weekend emergencies. This role also calls for someone who can work well with diverse resident and employee populations and follow the company’s inclusion and anti-harassment standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma, plus at least 1 year of full-time experience in lawn or grounds maintenance; an equivalent mix of education and experience is also acceptable.
- Ability to read instructions efficiently and document labor and materials accurately.
- Certified Pool Operator credential is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
