Planning & Scheduling Manager

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Planning & Scheduling Manager based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role encompasses leading the entire planning, schedule management, monitoring progress, and reporting functions for large-scale infrastructure projects such as roads, highways, bridges, interchanges, and transportation networks within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the creation, upkeep, and management of master program schedules spanning all key project phases including design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Implement and enforce planning procedures, scheduling standards, and project control protocols to meet PMC and client requirements.
• Ensure integrated schedules across all disciplines and stakeholders, validating contractor schedules for contractual compliance.
• Track schedule performance throughout the project lifecycle, developing work breakdown structures, coding frameworks, and scheduling techniques.
• Analyze project progress, identify the critical path, monitor deviations, and recommend corrective actions to maintain schedule integrity.
• Lead recovery planning efforts and evaluate contractor proposals related to schedule acceleration or recovery.
• Collaborate closely with cost control, risk management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to guarantee cohesive scheduling and support forecasting and performance reporting.
• Engage in change management to assess impacts from design changes, variations, and claims on project schedules.
• Conduct Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) including quantitative evaluations using Monte Carlo simulations and critical path robustness assessments.
• Prepare and present executive-level dashboards, schedule analysis reports, and progress presentations to senior leadership and clients.
• Facilitate planning meetings and coordinate with various stakeholders including clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies on scheduling matters.
• Provide strategic planning guidance to Project Directors and Program Directors to drive project delivery success.

Experience & Skills Required

• A minimum of 20 years' experience in planning and scheduling for major infrastructure projects, with at least 8 years in a managerial capacity.
• Strong background working within PMC, engineering consulting firms, or major infrastructure organizations.
• Proven involvement in sizable projects involving roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, and transportation infrastructure.
• Experience dealing with Middle Eastern government authorities and transport agencies is highly favored.
• Deep understanding of full project lifecycle planning from concept design through construction and handover.
• Expertise in Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis, Microsoft Project, Power BI, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
