About the Role
Join an enthusiastic and committed team as a Physical Exercise Specialist, dedicated to supporting Canadian Armed Forces members. This role involves leading reconditioning programs for individuals recovering from medical conditions, aiming to enhance their physical capabilities and prepare them to serve effectively. You'll collaborate with a professional health services team, contributing to the successful return of clients to duty through expert guidance and program delivery.
Responsibilities
Lead daily physical reconditioning sessions focused on improving the functional abilities of personnel experiencing physical limitations. Provide expertise to your local team, aiding in training and professional development. Partner with Health Promotion to advocate for healthy lifestyle choices and injury prevention through educational programs, events, and fitness initiatives. Work closely with multidisciplinary stakeholders to deliver integrated client services aimed at readiness for military duties.
Qualifications
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related discipline. Possess current certification as a Certified Exercise Physiologist (CSEP_CEP), or an equivalent certification through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Maintain current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications along with the National Lifeguard Service Certificate (NLS), if applicable.
Experience and Skills
- Experienced in designing, implementing, and leading physical fitness programs
- Skilled in conducting physical fitness training sessions
- Adept at communicating effectively with both professional peers and the public
- Experienced in adult education and facilitating workshops
- Knowledgeable about applying organizational policies, procedures, and regulations
- Competencies include client focus, organizational insight, communication, innovation, teamwork, and leadership
Language Skills
English proficiency is essential with functional reading, writing, and oral communication skills. Bilingual capabilities in English and French are considered an asset.
Additional Information
This role is based at the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Shilo, Manitoba, and is classified as a permanent full-time position. The salary offered ranges from 60380 to 71080 Canadian Dollars annually.
