Job Overview

This position involves the precise daily authorization of rates within the trading system to support rate fixing and settlement for various Derivatives transactions including Interest Rate Swaps, Options, FRA trades, and Structured deals. The role requires a solid understanding of the 2006 ISDA Definitions relevant to Fixed Income Derivative Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently perform daily Rate Reset activities with accuracy and timeliness to facilitate proper settlement, including confirming trades set in arrears with counterparties via verbal or email communication.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of rate indices, their conventions, publication times, and data sources to resolve discrepancies effectively.
  • Ensure all rate input pages on Reuters’ Market data sheets are updated according to publishing schedules to avoid premature rate usage.
  • Review Toronto Workflow "Rate Reset Repair" basket items and forward them daily to the "Supervisor Rate Reset Review" basket for approval.
  • Collaborate with external counterparties and internal operations teams to investigate and resolve rate discrepancies.
  • Work closely with marketers, traders, documentation officers, and analysts to maintain accurate trade details necessary for rate resets as agreed with clients.
  • Develop project management processes and tools for core activities and assist team members in their application.
  • Recommend administrative procedural improvements and system enhancements to support operational and business needs.
  • Identify opportunities for technical tool customizations to accommodate new or unique business requirements.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least one year of operational experience involving Credit and Fixed Rate Derivatives.
  • Proficiency in Excel and VBA scripting.
  • Completion of post-secondary education or equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity with Fixed Income Derivative trade processing and market standards is advantageous.
  • Capability to perform accurately under stress in demanding environments.
  • Experience with systems such as Infinity, Workflow, and Murex.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office applications including Word.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with traders and other officers.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and processes.
  • Knowledge of Structured, Credit, and Fixed Income Derivatives products, including settlements.
  • Understanding of relevant systems like RIMMS, IRIS, and adherence to RBC's Standing Orders.
