Position Overview

We are inviting applications for a Mechanical Fitter role based in Gladstone, requiring a casual commitment of 38 hours per week. The position involves conducting inspections and maintenance on rail rolling stock strictly adhering to established procedures and Rail Safety plus OH&S standards, promoting a safe working environment on site and in the field. The role reports to the Workshop Supervisor.

Core Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive mechanical evaluations of rolling stock in line with Railways of Australia engineering standards.
  • Perform wagon wheel replacements.
  • Execute ECP SCAT testing and troubleshoot faults.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and certification.
  • Communicate effectively with transport companies and shunting contractors using radio networks during marshalling and depot functions.
  • Report inspection outcomes clearly to operations staff and the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Maintain security for the workshop premises, vehicles, and tools.
  • Follow supervisor instructions and carry out assigned tasks.
  • Assist with repairs and servicing of company and client rolling stock.
