Overview
Star Engineers is looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer / AutoCAD Draftsman based in Ahmedabad. The role involves creating comprehensive engineering documentation, including 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and Bills of Materials for industrial valve products and related machinery.
Responsibilities
- Develop 2D manufacturing, assembly, and GA drawings using AutoCAD software.
- Update and revise drawings reflecting client feedback and design alterations.
- Create detailed part drawings covering dimensions, tolerances, materials, and machining allowances.
- Generate Bills of Materials to assist manufacturing and purchasing processes.
- Produce cross-sectional and exploded views of assemblies.
- Maintain accurate drawing revision logs and overall documentation control.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Sales teams on design matters.
- Ensure adherence to applicable standards such as ASME, API, ISO, and customer guidelines.
- Prepare machining and fabrication drawings for use on the shop floor.
- Contribute to new valve product designs and enhancement of existing designs.
- Support preparation of technical documentation, including Quality Assurance Plans, data sheets, and client drawing submissions.
- Manage the engineering drawing database and ensure document backups are maintained.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience ranging from freshers up to 2 years in mechanical drafting or design is acceptable.
- Proficient in 2D AutoCAD, with knowledge of AutoCAD Mechanical preferred.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Inventor is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and manufacturing workflows.
- Knowledge of machining, fabrication, casting, and assembly techniques.
- Preferred experience or knowledge related to industrial valves including gate, globe, check, ball, and butterfly valves.
- Ability to interpret client specifications and engineering standards accurately.
- Effective communication and coordination capabilities.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel and Word applications.
Preferred Standards and Knowledge
- Familiarity with ASME B16.34, B16.5, API 6D, API 600, API 602, BS 1873, ISO 5208, and ASTM/ASME material standards.

Additional Information
- Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience, typically ranging between 15,000 to 32,000 INR per month.
- Working hours are Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
