About Toshiba JSW Power Systems
Toshiba JSW Power Systems Private Limited is a collaboration between Toshiba Corporation, Japan, and JSW Group, India. Founded in 2008, with commercial operations starting in 2011, the company manufactures and markets super-critical steam turbines and generators for thermal power plants across India. It has since merged with Toshiba Thermal & Hydro Power Systems Company to expand its services to Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Construction, and Services (EMPCS) for thermal power plants. Located in Manali near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the facility spans around 400,000 square meters and focuses on turbines and generators ranging from 500MW to 1,000MW. Supported by Toshiba’s Yokohama-based power equipment production facility, Toshiba JSW aims to achieve an independent production scale of 3,000MW annually.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Operate EOT (Electric Overhead Traveling) cranes to lift, transport, and position materials and equipment safely as per designated lifting plans.
- Conduct thorough inspections of cranes and rigging gear to ensure safety and operational readiness before and after each use.
- Strictly follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols during all crane operations.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with team members and supervisory staff throughout operations.
- Document and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.
- Keep the crane operation area free from obstacles and unauthorized personnel to maintain a safe environment.
- Verify that loads are securely fastened prior to lifting or moving to prevent accidents.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Demonstrated experience of 5 to 8 years in operating EOT cranes or comparable overhead cranes.
- Strong understanding of crane load charts, rigging practices, and applicable safety regulations.
- Ability to interpret hand signals accurately and communicate effectively with the crew.
- Physical capability to meet the demands of crane operation tasks.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for inspecting equipment and resolving minor issues.
- Any graduate level of education is required.
