Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to shaping and executing the North American PR strategy alongside the Senior Director to highlight company priorities across business, consumer, and industry media and safeguard brand reputation both proactively and reactively.
  • Develop and nurture media relationships by staying informed on relevant reporters, news outlets, and their coverage domains; engage directly with media and partners on behalf of Oatly and evaluate reactive engagement opportunities.
  • Support acquisition of strategic press exposure through various media formats including print, digital, and broadcast, focusing on features and product placements.
  • Manage daily interactions with PR agencies, influencer partners, and other external collaborators.
  • Collaborate with global PR teams frequently to align and coordinate public relations efforts.
  • Constantly monitor cultural narratives to identify opportunities to amplify the brand’s voice.
  • Serve as the communications liaison for North American nutrition and sustainability leaders, directing mission-driven storytelling within this region.
  • Partner strategically on external communications with cross-functional teams including corporate affairs, creative, commercial, product development, and experiential teams.
  • Provide PR support to commercial teams for new accounts, partnerships, and various announcements.
  • Ensure communication accuracy and exclusivity by coordinating with internal and third-party stakeholders.
  • Assist senior leaders during crisis communication situations.
  • Identify and facilitate event participation and speaking opportunities for spokespeople globally and regionally.
  • Lead creation and submission of applications for relevant industry awards and recognitions.
  • Generate press materials such as releases, biographies, fact sheets, Q&As, and media backgrounders.
  • Track industry trends, derive pertinent insights, and develop engaging media pitch angles related to the sector.
  • Oversee media monitoring, coverage tracking, and prepare reports for internal distribution.
  • Help manage the North American PR budget pertaining to assigned responsibilities.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' experience in public relations, external brand communications, or journalism, preferably with familiarity in emerging consumer brands.
  • Proven expertise in media relations allowing confident engagement with press, executives, and other stakeholders, working both independently and under supervision.
  • Strong aptitude for building and maintaining trustworthy relationships with reporters, event organizers, and brand partners fostering open communication.
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, capable of producing creative and original pitches, press releases, and compelling headlines.
  • Background or strong interest in nutrition and sustainability with aspirations to lead relevant strategic initiatives.
  • Critical thinking skills to make informed decisions aligned with strategic goals, while remaining adaptable to change.
  • Alignment with Oatly’s mission centered on health, sustainability, and transparency.

Additional Qualities Valued

  • A personal connection to Oatly’s mission promoting health, sustainability, and transparency.
  • A self-motivated individual who thrives with autonomy and embraces a culture of accountability and ownership.
  • Driven to significantly impact a growing brand by applying experience to achieve exceptional outcomes.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable with uncertainty and motivated by building enduring legacy from early stages.
  • Willingness to share unique personality traits and talents with colleagues to enrich team culture.
