About the Role
This position leads business continuity planning and emergency preparedness for the facilities function across DePuy Synthes. The role focuses on keeping sites resilient, response-ready, and able to continue operating through disruptions that affect buildings, infrastructure, utilities, or day-to-day workplace activities.
The program spans a global portfolio of about 110 locations and works across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. It partners closely with regional facilities leaders, site services, security, EHS, and enterprise business continuity teams to set standards and strengthen readiness.
The role is based in Cork, Ireland, with postings also referenced for Ringaskiddy, Cork, Ireland. The same opportunity is listed in multiple countries under separate requisition numbers to meet local requirements, and applications submitted under any of those requisitions are treated as one submission. Countries mentioned include the US, UK, and Ireland.
Johnson & Johnson also notes that it is planning to separate its Orthopaedics business into a standalone company operating as DePuy Synthes. Responsibilities
- Build, own, and keep current the facilities business continuity and emergency preparedness framework in line with enterprise continuity standards.
- Make sure risks tied to facilities, such as infrastructure outages, utility interruptions, and site-access problems, are covered in continuity planning.
- Set response standards, playbooks, and readiness expectations for sites.
- Work with regional facilities leaders and local teams to run drills, exercises, and preparedness assessments.
- Support crisis events with structured escalation, coordination, and decision-making support.
- Review incidents after they occur and turn lessons learned into improvements.
- Share readiness indicators, risk observations, and preparedness trends with leadership.
- Lead the ongoing development and maintenance of continuity and emergency preparedness programs.
- Align site and functional plans with enterprise standards and applicable regulatory needs.
- Perform risk assessments, business impact analyses, and scenario planning to identify exposures and mitigation actions.
- Coordinate emergency drills and exercises that test preparedness and improve response capability.
- Partner with EHSS, Facilities, IT, Supply Chain, and business leaders to embed continuity planning across functions.
- Track program performance and drive maturity through continuous improvement and best-practice adoption.
- Provide guidance, training, and subject-matter expertise to stakeholders on BCP and emergency preparedness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Emergency Management, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- An advanced degree or professional training in business continuity, emergency management, or risk management is an advantage.
- 6–8 years of progressive experience in business continuity, emergency preparedness, risk management, or a related operational field.
- Proven experience creating and managing BCP and emergency response programs.
- Solid understanding of risk assessment, business impact analysis, and continuity planning methods.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions in a matrixed organization.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation, training, and presentations.
- Experience in a regulated, manufacturing, or global organization is preferred.
- Exposure to crisis management or incident response teams is preferred.
- Familiarity with global continuity standards and frameworks is preferred.
- Experience improving program maturity and continuous improvement is preferred.
- English fluency is required.
- Travel of up to 25%, mainly within the country, is required.
- Business continuity or emergency management certifications such as CBCP, MBCI, or CEM are preferred but not mandatory.
