Role Summary

The Maintenance Technician is accountable for the installation, upkeep, and repair of automated vial and syringe filling machines at Viatris (Mylan Teoranta) in County Galway, Ireland. This role also involves maintaining plant equipment and utilities, aiming for excellence by applying industry best practices in maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute setup, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated vial and syringe filling equipment.
• Perform maintenance tasks on equipment and utilities, ensuring all work is documented according to GMP standards.
• Coordinate and supervise external contractors during equipment installations and scheduled service visits.
• Manage inventory of spare parts, consumables, and maintenance services to maintain compliance with equipment schedules.
• Develop and implement Reliability Centered Maintenance strategies utilizing Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA/FMEA) alongside department management and engineering teams, using data analysis tools like trend analysis and control charts.
• Create and update maintenance and calibration documentation, including preventive maintenance schedules, data sheets, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
• Support compliance by addressing safety and quality events, CAPAs, change management activities, and assist in diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical equipment issues.
• Ensure all maintenance procedures and routines meet cGMP and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations at local, global, and regulatory levels.
• Maintain flexibility to work overtime, cover shifts, be on call, and perform other tasks as necessary.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Certification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
• Conflict management and negotiation skills.
• Structured approach to decision-making.
• Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Preventive Maintenance systems.
• Competence in report preparation and presentation.
• Ability to manage several projects and activities concurrently.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Aptitude to read and interpret business documents and compile technical reports effectively.
• Collaborative team player with good communication skills.
• Physical demands may include standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing steps, lifting heavy objects manually and with equipment, and use of personal protective equipment such as respiratory protection, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and protective clothing.
