Role overview

Beacon Hill is hiring a Logistics Coordinator to help run both international and domestic transportation activities in a global supply chain setting. The position centers on shipment coordination, freight paperwork, transportation cost review, shipment visibility, and day-to-day communication with carriers, customers, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders.

This opportunity is best suited for someone with practical exposure to international freight, ocean transportation, customs coordination, and transportation management systems (TMS). The work environment is fast-moving and requires strong attention to detail.

Job details

• Job type: Contract-to-permanent
• Pay rate: $28.85 to $30.00 per hour; higher pay may be considered for especially deep experience
• Permanent target compensation: $60,000+ plus bonus and benefits
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Work style: Hybrid, with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote
• Start timing: After interview

Transportation coordination

• Handle international ocean freight and domestic shipment movements
• Arrange bookings, load tenders, and transportation planning activities
• Monitor shipments from origin to destination and step in quickly when issues arise
• Keep vessel timelines under review and assist with customs clearance processes
• Make sure pickups, deliveries, and milestone updates stay on track across the full shipment journey

Documentation and compliance

• Keep shipping paperwork accurate, including commercial invoices, proof of delivery documents, and customs-related records
• Support adherence to Incoterms, customs requirements, and internal procedures
• Maintain shipment records and transportation data in TMS and ERP platforms

Freight audit and cost control

• Check freight invoices for accuracy before approval
• Audit 3PL invoices and work through billing mismatches
• Track detention, demurrage, and other accessorial charges
• Assist with freight cost analysis and benchmarking work

Performance tracking and reporting

• Measure carrier service levels and transportation KPI performance
• Review patterns tied to delivery timing, expense trends, and operational efficiency
• Prepare reports to support operations review and improvement efforts
• Contribute to automation and process enhancement initiatives

Vendor and stakeholder management

• Maintain working relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation vendors
• Respond promptly to requests from customers and internal teams
• Assist with quoting and rate-request activities
• Partner closely with customer service, sales, and operations groups

Systems used in the role

This role involves regular use of transportation management systems, ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle, and Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline is preferred
• 5 to 6 years of freight operations experience is preferred
• Background in a 3PL, freight forwarder, ocean carrier, importer, or exporter environment is strongly preferred
• Direct experience handling international import and export shipments is needed
• Hands-on knowledge of ocean freight, customs documents, and Incoterms is required
• 3 to 4 years of TMS experience is preferred
• Experience reviewing freight invoices and resolving billing disputes is expected
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are important
• Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills are needed
