Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Linux Principal Engineer II to spearhead the design and maintenance of enterprise-level Linux platforms. The role involves managing high availability Linux infrastructures across on-premise and hybrid cloud environments, overseeing IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS), and deploying OpenShift and Kubernetes clusters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and support of enterprise Linux platforms.
- Manage high availability Linux environments on-premises and hybrid cloud setups.
- Administer IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) file systems.
- Deploy and maintain Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes clusters.
- Perform system performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
- Implement security hardening, patch management, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across Linux systems.
- Automate processes using scripting languages such as Bash and Python, and tools like Ansible and Terraform.
- Collaborate effectively with DevOps and Security teams.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Linux administration (RHEL, CentOS, Oracle Linux).
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience with IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS).
- 2 to 3 years of experience working with OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Proficient in Bash and Python scripting.
- Expertise in automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Strong skills in Linux performance tuning, security hardening, and patch management.
- Knowledge in high availability and disaster recovery architectures.
- Understanding of networking protocols and concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, and logging stacks like ELK.
- Certifications such as RHCE, RHCA, or CKA.
- Experience with DevOps practices.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
