Role Overview

The Liability Claims Adjuster will manage a diverse portfolio of liability claims from initial notification through settlement, adhering to claims handling authority and company standards. This role includes handling lead and follow-up claims, some of which are technically complex. Additional responsibilities involve oversight of third-party administrators, reviewing claims management information (MI), and analyzing data to identify trends, insights, and improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate initial cause of loss to determine claim coverage and identify additional information needs.
• Determine the company's response to claims through policy and underwriting documentation interpretation; investigate, negotiate, and settle claims within statutory and corporate guidelines, including coverage analysis and policy decisions.
• Assist in setting realistic and timely claim reserves to help management gauge company exposure.
• Collaborate with clients, loss adjusters, solicitors, experts, brokers, managing general agents (MGAs), and third-party administrators (TPAs) for claims investigation and service.
• Review claims MI for accuracy and coordinate with TPAs, loss adjusters, and others to ensure data integrity.
• Work closely with underwriters, risk managers, finance, management, Home Office, and network offices for informational, procedural, or authority-related matters.
• Maintain detailed records for auditing and regulatory compliance, preparing reports as needed.
• Ensure accurate claims data entry into company systems to facilitate precise reporting and MI preparation.
• Engage in projects or initiatives to enhance team and department efficiency and effectiveness.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by Liability Claims Manager and Head of Liability Claims to meet team objectives.
• Support management of international programs by liaising with network offices, clients, brokers, loss adjusters, solicitors, and experts to provide effective claims service and accurate claims data.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience handling liability claims on a lead basis.
• Familiarity with managing and reviewing claims management information.
• Knowledge of the Irish insurance market for public, products, and employers liability.
• Experience with both litigated and non-litigated claims.
• Understanding of court processes, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Strong grasp of insurance principles and awareness of current regulations and market issues.
• Good working knowledge of coverage under public, products, and employers liability policies.
• Understanding of relevant current laws.
• Experience with first-party claims such as property, engineering, or construction is beneficial but not essential.
