Landman

Position Overview

The Landman will oversee all assigned land and commercial tasks related to both onshore and offshore operations, adhering strictly to Talos Energy’s policies, procedures, and all relevant regulatory requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage contracts and leases ensuring all rights and obligations are fulfilled on schedule.
• Conduct rapid and precise research on various oil and gas agreements, such as leases, surface use agreements, participation agreements, farmouts/farmins, operating agreements, production handling agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
• Work collaboratively with Exploration, Development, and Operations teams to optimize asset development and manage asset retirement responsibilities.
• Actively participate with asset teams to support opportunity recognition and implementation in designated geographic areas.
• Maintain and develop strong external relationships to acquire market intelligence and identify new opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

• One to three years’ experience in oil and gas land and commercial activities (including internships); offshore experience is advantageous.
• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Commerce, or closely related disciplines is mandatory.
• Proven ability to apply regulatory rules and lease obligations effectively to property facts.
• Experience in managing oil and gas leases, including royalties, rentals, AFEs, and surface agreements; lease acquisition experience is a plus.
• Competence in managing mineral and surface owner relations, including oversight of surface use agreements and coordination with division order analysts and accounting departments.
• Knowledge of site clearance, abandonment, restoration, and financial assurance matters.

• Experience with land management software, Sonris, or BLM/MMA databases is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Teams, and SharePoint alongside data handling skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritize diverse, demanding workloads.
• Ability to cultivate productive relationships within internal teams.
• Self-motivated, able to balance multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong ethical standards and integrity with capacity to handle sensitive situations professionally.
• Flexibility to work demanding and adaptable schedules as required.

Certifications and Licensing

• No mandatory certifications or licenses are required.
• Designation as a Registered Landman or memberships with professional bodies such as AAPL are considered a plus.

Physical Demands

This role requires prolonged sitting and repetitive use of arms and hands. It also involves some standing and walking as part of routine activities.
