Overview

hVIVO is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory teams at our London, E1 & E14 sites. The role is centered on processing, storing, and transporting participant samples in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) to uphold high operational quality standards. Our organisation conducts human challenge clinical trials aimed at eradicating or improving treatment for common illnesses such as colds and flu. Volunteers' participation is essential to the controlled testing of new therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, process, and store samples following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned to analytical plans and specified deadlines, ensuring milestone achievement.
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation related to study-specific sample handling.
  • Develop and enhance laboratory competencies relevant to assigned projects.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Good Clinical Practice and company SOPs and guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with staff across multiple sites and departments, sustaining strong communication.
  • Support sample storage and tracking activities accurately.
  • Help produce correctly labelled samples as required.
  • Manage own time and resources efficiently with guidance.
  • Operate standard laboratory instruments including biological safety cabinets, pipettes, and centrifuges.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness and order, including waste disposal, equipment cleaning, lab coat management, and monitoring inventory levels of consumables and freezer contents.
  • Assist with preparation of media and buffer solutions when needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Possess a GCSE or BTEC qualification in a Science discipline.
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory setting is advantageous.
  • Capable of working as part of a team while also organizing personal tasks and resources effectively under some supervision.
  • Strong communication abilities.

Additional Information

The position involves shift work with schedules spanning 07:00 to 23:00, including weekends on a rotating basis. Monthly rosters will be shared in advance to facilitate planning.
