Role Overview
DMI seeks a Junior Project Manager to assist in Release Management, Infrastructure Operations, Cloud projects, and cross-functional project management for multiple technical teams and vendors. The candidate will coordinate software releases, infrastructure enhancements, and cloud initiatives, monitor timelines, facilitate communication between stakeholders, and ensure timely delivery of projects with proactive risk management and updated documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to Senior Project Managers with planning, organizing, and executing infrastructure, cloud, and software delivery projects.
- Create and maintain project schedules, resource allocation trackers, milestones, and work plans.
- Monitor project progress by tracking deliverables, action items, risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Prepare project status updates, executive dashboards, agendas, meeting minutes, and follow-up documentation.
- Oversee project governance and ensure timely completion of project objectives.
- Assist with budgeting, resource coordination, and comprehensive project documentation throughout all phases.
- Manage end-to-end software release activities across multiple technical teams and vendors.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor the deployment of software releases and infrastructure updates, maintaining release calendars and communicating timelines to stakeholders.
- Coordinate approvals, change management processes, deployment strategies, rollback plans, and support post-release activities including validation, issue tracking, and lessons learned.
- Support infrastructure modernization projects such as server upgrades and cloud migrations, including those involving Azure, AWS, or hybrid environments.
- Coordinate maintenance windows, system upgrades, patching processes, and ensure readiness of technical environments.
- Collaborate closely with Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, Security, Network, and Operations teams to ensure successful project implementations.
- Facilitate seamless collaboration among Development, QA, DevOps, Infrastructure, Security, Product Management, and business stakeholders through coordinating meetings, release planning, and change management.
- Maintain alignment on project dependencies, milestones, and deliverables across multiple teams, escalating risks and conflicts to leadership as appropriate.
- Support release roadmap management, Agile sprint releases, production deployments, and build pipeline coordination to improve deployment efficiency.
- Identify and recommend process improvements in project delivery, release management, and infrastructure coordination while ensuring compliance with ITIL Change Management and organizational governance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management support roles involving Release Management, Infrastructure Operations, Cloud projects, DevOps, or IT Service Management.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple technical teams, vendors, and complex project workstreams.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, SDLC, project management best practices, and ITIL Change, Release, and Incident Management principles.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
- Experience supporting cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or hybrid clouds.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, including tools like Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Microsoft Project, Git, Jenkins, and GitHub.
- Understanding of infrastructure technologies including servers, networking, databases, storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
- Prior engagement with Federal Government IT programs is highly desirable.
- Preferred certifications include CAPM, PMP, Scrum Master, Agile, or ITIL Foundation.
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance and background investigation.
Additional Information
- Physical demands are minimal and do not pose restrictions for this position.
- Work location is McLean, VA, with hybrid remote options requiring 1-2 days onsite per week.
