Junior Payroll Officer

About the Role

Hungry Jack’s is seeking a motivated Junior Payroll Officer to join its National Payroll team, supporting over 25,000 employees throughout Australia. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance your payroll skills, particularly with Workday, a leading payroll platform, in a dynamic and large-scale payroll environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in processing weekly payroll using Workday Payroll system.
• Maintain accurate employee records including onboarding, changes, and terminations.
• Manage Time & Attendance data via LIFELENZ.
• Handle complex payroll calculations such as various leave entitlements and workers compensation.
• Support month-end and year-end payroll activities.
• Interpret and apply Awards and Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs) comprehensively.
• Address payroll-related queries through email, phone, and JIRA platform.
• Assist in reconciliation processes including superannuation, payroll tax, and year-to-date figures.
• Contribute to continuous process improvements and system upgrades.

Candidate Profile

• Possess 1 to 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in a high-volume setting.
• Basic knowledge of payroll legislation, tax, Awards, and EBAs.
• Meticulous with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
• Team-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities with a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Workday or comparable HRIS/payroll systems.
• Formal payroll qualifications such as Certificate or Diploma.
• Proficiency in Excel including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation.
