15Rock develops advanced research software tailored for advisory, investment, corporate strategy, and climate teams. Their products transform various sources such as filings, transcripts, PDFs, proprietary data, and client methodologies into verifiable shortlists, Value Scans, benchmarks, and client-ready reports. The company places strong emphasis on traceability, ensuring every claim can be linked back to its original source.

This role is unique as it involves working with AI-generated code that forms much of the product's foundation. Unlike many startups that tend to hire senior developers exclusively, 15Rock actively seeks junior talent to train and grow within the AI-driven environment.

Key Challenges and Projects

• Automatically verifying company's margin compression claims in filings at scale.
• Creating evaluations to detect subtle errors in analyses prior to partner review.
• Condensing lengthy company scans into concise reports without losing evidential integrity.
• Benchmarking companies against peers across multiple products using dispersed data from filings, transcripts, and datasets.

Primary Responsibilities

• Translate open-ended requests into functioning production features, maintaining ownership post-deployment.
• Analyze AI-generated code critically to detect logic flaws, silent failures, or misleading output.
• Develop and enhance testing frameworks and evaluations to build trust in pipeline reliability.
• Improve citation accuracy, source traceability, and validation mechanisms ensuring report claims are substantiated.
• Design and build user interfaces that facilitate research, review, and report delivery.
• Diagnose production issues using logs and convert findings into reproducible test cases.

Qualifications and Desired Traits

• At least one year of professional software development experience or equivalent internship/co-op where a real project was delivered.
• Proficiency in either TypeScript with React or Python.
• Portfolio link showcasing completed projects.
• Ability to understand code correctness beyond its ability to run.
• Focus on measurable success and quality of solutions.
• Clear and precise written communication skills.
• Proactive in seeking clarification when encountering challenges.
• Experience with AI coding tools sufficient to understand their limitations.
• Additional advantageous skills include knowledge of retrieval/search systems, evaluation techniques, cloud deployment, data pipelines, and B2B analytics or research tools.

Additional Information

This role requires full-time, in-person presence five days a week at the Toronto office to facilitate hands-on learning from experienced staff, which cannot be effectively done remotely or in hybrid mode. Feedback will be direct and immediate, often from investment partners, ensuring rapid professional development.
