Position Overview

The Junior Data Scientist role involves aiding the Marine Corps Logistics GPN program by supporting the Senior Analyst with fundamental data preparation, script development, automation of queries, and implementation of routine analytical models to facilitate logistics and operational decisions. This role offers an ideal opportunity for those early in their data science careers to acquire valuable experience managing Department of Defense data in a cooperative, mission-focused workplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute foundational data cleansing and preparation to support analytic and reporting activities.
• Run standard analytical models under the guidance of a Senior Analyst.
• Assist in validating and organizing datasets for analysis purposes.
• Develop, maintain, and update scripts to automate repetitive data processes and queries.
• Use SQL to extract and transform data as needed for projects.
• Contribute to automation efforts enhancing data collection and reporting efficiency.
• Create basic dashboards and data visualizations using common business intelligence software.
• Help compile reports and analytics deliverables targeted at relevant stakeholders.
• Communicate insights through clear and effective visualizations and reports.
• Collaborate with Senior Analysts and team members to meet project goals.
• Participate in data validation, quality assurance, and ongoing process improvement efforts.
• Support various analytics projects within the Marine Corps Logistics GPN program.

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree.
• Between 1 to 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency with Python, R, or SQL programming languages.
• Familiarity with foundational data visualization tools.
• Strong skills in analysis and problem-solving.
• Ability to work effectively in a technical team environment and adhere to established analytical procedures.
