• Generate original and captivating story ideas that attract a wide audience.
• Build and maintain a robust network of sources and contacts while possessing strong local insight and awareness of current newsworthy topics.
• Create polished and flawless content utilizing multimedia channels including digital, print, and broadcast.
• Design and implement well-thought-out, premium content.
• Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to ensure timely delivery of work.
• Adapt to covering a broad spectrum of topics relevant to both Wellington and national audiences.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a journalism qualification combined with newsroom experience, demonstrating dedication to producing impactful and authentic journalism.
• Exhibit persistence in uncovering the truth, alongside excellent research and writing capabilities.
• Demonstrate skill in identifying and developing content that appeals at both local and national levels through strong networking and a keen news instinct.
• Maintain a positive demeanor and possess excellent communication skills.
• Comfortable handling diverse journalism arenas, including breaking news, court reports, local government, public sector, and human interest stories.
