Position Overview

This role serves as a Software Engineer embedded within the TECHREP Office supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Munitions programs. The position is based in Tucson, AZ, focusing on software support for Sea Based Terminal (SBT), SM6 BLK 1A SWUP, and SM6 BLK 1AU programs.

General Responsibilities

  • Act as the Navy's primary expert leading software and system integrity evaluations within engineering workflows.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of software development, design logic, firmware, modeling, manufacturing assessments, and system architecture.
  • Analyze systems modeling, simulation outputs, and software test results.
  • Identify, assess, and assist in resolving software-related issues.
  • Provide technical evaluations and detailed reports, including presentations, throughout product life cycles.
  • Develop expert recommendations and actively participate in team leadership and project coordination.
  • Clarify and communicate project goals while managing scope and requirements.

Technical Duties

  • Oversee on-site software equipment coordination to ensure timely upgrades and new test system implementations that uphold fleet combat readiness and ensure safety during SM build-up.
  • Review technical documentation supporting software builds, Formal Qualification Testing (FQT), Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR), Permit to Ship (PTS), Mission Control Panel (MCP), and Mission Readiness Reviews (MRR).
  • Monitor and validate test execution to confirm compliance with software user requirements.
  • Engage with both government and industry personnel at various levels for collaborative problem-solving and negotiation.
  • Coordinate engineering and logistics resources to meet mission objectives effectively.
  • Evaluate development and production metrics—schedule, cost, and technical parameters—providing informed guidance to Navy TechRep leadership.
  • Resolve technical challenges by coordinating efforts across laboratories, prime contractors, and Program Offices.
  • Detect resource deficiencies or deviations from planned performance and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support creation of technical procedures, standard operating protocols, and plans for product development, manufacturing, and operational support projects.
  • Collaborate with USN Cyber and Systems Integrity experts to develop and implement cybersecurity and system integrity solutions tied to missile software development.
  • Work closely with Navy Cyber and SI teams and contractors to deploy software solutions.
  • Gather contractor performance data to ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled.
