About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Hotel Porter to join our team at one of Dunedin's premier upscale hotels within New Zealand's fastest-growing hotel chain. This role offers the opportunity to provide exceptional guest services and contribute to a high-quality hospitality environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome guests, including individual visitors and corporate or tour groups, addressing them by name and guiding them through the hotel's premium amenities.
- Manage luggage handling by safely lifting, carrying, tagging, and delivering luggage efficiently to and from spacious guest rooms.
- Act as a knowledgeable local ambassador by confidently recommending regional attractions, dining options, and sites of interest in the Dunedin and Otago areas.
- Coordinate transportation arrangements such as taxis, handle guest messages, and accommodate individual guest requests smoothly.
- Support food and beverage services by taking room service orders, delivering meals to guest rooms, collecting trays, and properly processing signed billing documents.
- Ensure the front desk and lobby area are kept clean, tidy, and welcoming by assisting with routine cleaning tasks.
- Provide first-response maintenance for minor urgent issues in guest rooms during off-hours to maintain guest comfort.
Candidate Requirements
- Good physical condition with the ability to confidently lift, carry, and maneuver heavy luggage on a daily basis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine commitment to delivering personalized customer service.
- Resourceful and adaptable problem-solver capable of independently handling minor repairs and unexpected guest requests.
- Professional and neat appearance, with a friendly and welcoming attitude reflecting the hotel's distinguished reputation.
