Overview
The Head of Quality Services will spearhead the Global Capability Center's Quality Services division, offering centralized support across Quality Systems, Documentation Management, Compliance, Data Analytics, Translation Services, and related Quality Operations. This leadership role emphasizes delivering efficient, compliant, and customer-centric quality services through standardized procedures, governance, operational excellence, and ongoing enhancement. Collaboration with Site Quality teams, Digital departments, and business units is vital for advancing quality standards, inspection readiness, and digital transformation while nurturing Lonza's commitment to a Quality First culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the GCC Quality Services group to ensure consistent, compliant, and efficient quality support services delivery.
- Develop and uphold service delivery frameworks, governance protocols, and operational standards in line with global quality mandates.
- Achieve set service levels, performance targets, and meet customer expectations proficiently.
- Promote a customer-focused mindset driving operational excellence and business success.
- Supervise global document management services including lifecycle handling, archiving, translations, and authentic copy processes, adhering strictly to GMP, Data Integrity, and regulatory norms.
- Promote process standardization and continuous improvements in documentation and knowledge management.
- Lead quality compliance services such as metrics reporting, governance preparations, complaint management, record coordination, and compliance monitoring uniformly across sites.
- Support inspection readiness and compliance initiatives across the global network.
- Oversee Quality Data Analytics—trend analysis, statistical support, reporting, and visualization—to provide actionable insights supporting Quality Reviews, CPV, PQRs, Quality Councils, inspections, and decisions.
- Champion initiatives in automation, simplification, standardization, and continuous improvement within all Quality Services activities.
- Drive digital transformation and encourage adoption of quality technologies and platforms.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with Site Quality Heads, Digital teams, and operational stakeholders, acting as primary escalation contact for issues and risks.
- Recruit, develop, and maintain a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GxP, Data Integrity, and regulatory mandates throughout all service deliveries.
- Maintain inspection and audit readiness, supporting regulatory audits and quality reviews.
- Manage budgets, workforce plans, capacity, and resource allocations efficiently aligned with strategic priorities.
Required Background and Skills
- Preferably a Master's degree in scientific, technical, or business disciplines.
- Over 10 years of experience in GMP-regulated sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, or life sciences.
- Proven leadership in Quality Systems, Operations, Shared Services, GBS, or Centers of Excellence.
- Experience managing global, geographically dispersed teams.
- Familiarity with quality and business platforms like Veeva, TrackWise, Document Management Systems, LIMS, SAP, or equivalents.
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance programs.
- Expertise in establishing and evolving Global Capability Centers or Shared Service organizations.
- Track record of leading digital transformation, automation, or quality system implementations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GMP, GxP, Data Integrity, and Quality Management Systems.
- Strong operational leadership, service management, strategic planning, change management, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Data-driven decision-making with analytics competence.
- A mindset geared towards continuous improvement and process simplification.
- Capability to thrive within complex global matrix structures.
