About SpaceX and Role Overview
SpaceX envisions a future where humanity explores space, actively developing technologies to make life on Mars achievable. The Government Program Development team is growing to support the Starshield initiative, which adapts SpaceX's Starlink technology for government use, focusing on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads. This position specifically supports international government partners to expand satellite communication capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and cultivate new international satellite communication (SATCOM) business opportunities as well as expand current programs.
- Manage and forecast sales pipelines for both short- and long-term objectives.
- Perform data-driven analysis of international market opportunities, funding options, and government policies, presenting findings to senior leadership.
- Effectively communicate Starshield's offerings and tailor value propositions for various international governments.
- Contribute to the development of complex proposals, including pricing, strategy, and messaging.
- Coordinate internally with legal, contracts, engineering, mission management, and finance teams during the program development lifecycle.
- Refine engagement strategies based on evolving internal goals, mission requirements, customer feedback, and competitive insights.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of three years in business development or account management within the Intelligence Community or broader national security agencies (e.g., FBI, DOD, CIA, DISA, ODI).
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in a technical field or MBA.
- At least two years in telecommunications or defense sectors.
- Proven organizational skills in managing complex government sales and familiarity with international procurement and contract frameworks.
- Understanding of international SATCOM and telecommunications markets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, particularly in collaborative settings.
- Capability to analyze market trends for identifying business opportunities.
- Ability to excel in dynamic, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments with high ownership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements and Conditions
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 50% of the time.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
- Position is based in Washington, DC and requires on-site presence; remote work is not an option.
- Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance; initiation of the clearance process upon hiring is required, and failure to secure clearance may result in reassignment or termination.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range of $115,000 to $155,000, determined on individual qualifications.
- Employees with active security clearances receive up to a 10% salary differential, up to $20,000 annually once briefed into classified programs.
- Additional incentives may include company stock awards, discretionary bonuses, and eligibility for an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
- Comprehensive benefits coverage including medical, vision, dental, 401(k), disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, paid vacation (three weeks), and over 10 paid holidays annually.
