Role Overview

Gallen Hospitality is seeking a dependable and diligent General Maintenance & Yard Operative to join their team supporting Villa Rose Hotel and Jackson's Hotel in Ballybofey, Co. Donegal. This physically active, hands-on position involves maintaining cleanliness, safety, and organization of outdoor and back-of-house service areas. The role involves collaboration with the Maintenance and Operations teams to ensure smooth hotel functioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep external service yards, bin storage areas, and loading zones clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling processes according to company guidelines.
  • Safely operate cardboard balers and prepare materials for pick-up.
  • Sort glass bottles and other recyclables and dispose of them correctly.
  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and correct placement of waste and recycling bins.
  • Sweep and upkeep outdoor walkways, service areas, and grounds.
  • Pick up litter and keep all external zones tidy and presentable.
  • Assist with stock movement, deliveries, and equipment handling when needed.
  • Support the Maintenance team with general upkeep tasks as assigned.
  • Report maintenance problems, hazards, or faulty equipment promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to Health & Safety policies and safe working standards at all times.
  • Operate across both Villa Rose and Jackson's Hotels as required by daily activities.

Required Qualifications & Attributes

  • Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Physically capable of performing manual labor tasks.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable with readiness to support various areas.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in maintenance, yard, facilities, hotel, or general operative roles is advantageous.
  • Experience handling waste management or recycling equipment is a plus.
  • Basic maintenance knowledge is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided.

Additional Details

  • Hourly wage range: €14.15 to €17.00.
