Food Lab Assistant

Job Overview

The Food Lab Assistant will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized food laboratory environment to support practical lessons and cooking programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the Food Laboratory at all times.
• Prepare necessary ingredients and materials to facilitate Food and Nutrition practical sessions.
• Clean and service all food lab equipment, appliances, and workstation areas regularly.
• Manage inventory by monitoring and replenishing food supplies, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Conduct routine stock audits and maintain accurate records of food lab items.
• Label and properly organize food storage locations and laboratory equipment.
• Provide assistance during Food and Nutrition practical classes and afternoon cooking activities.
• Support school events that involve the Food Laboratory.
• Maintain a safe, hygienic, and organized learning environment suited for students.

Requirements

• Possess basic certification in Food Preparation and Food Safety.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• At least 2 years’ experience in culinary arts, food preparation, or a related field.
• Experienced in inventory control, stock organization, and store management.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently ensuring the laboratory remains clean and safe.
