Role Purpose
The Finance Manager for Aviation is tasked with managing financial reporting, planning, and analysis activities within the aviation segment. The role ensures the organization’s financial integrity, drives cost-efficiency, and upholds regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, and delivering strategic financial insights to guide decision-making processes across all management levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, treasury functions, and cash flow.
- Prepare and submit financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually, following appropriate accounting standards and aviation regulations.
- Develop the annual budget and perform monthly operational expense reviews against projections, updating quarterly rolling forecasts with detailed analysis.
- Assist in forming short-, medium-, and long-term financial forecasts in line with business strategies.
- Analyze financial results, identify variances, and suggest corrective measures.
- Oversee revenue and cost accounting for aviation activities such as ticketing, ground services, aircraft upkeep, leasing, and charters.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, auditing standards, and civil aviation authority requirements.
- Coordinate with auditors, financial institutions, lessors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies as required.
- Support strategic ventures including fleet growth, route profitability, pricing decisions, and capital investments.
- Utilize ERP platforms like SAP and aviation-specific financial tools to guarantee precise reporting and efficient operations.
- Lead and develop the finance team to uphold organizational objectives and adapt to evolving needs.
- Primarily based in the office with occasional site visits and partner meetings.
- Willingness to work extended hours during audits, closings, or key project deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant discipline; professional certification such as ACCA, CA, CPA, or CIMA preferred.
- Prior experience at a reputable Chartered Accountancy firm is required.
- At least 10 years of financial management experience, with minimum 5 years in the aviation industry.
- Comprehensive understanding of aviation financial operations, including cost and revenue models and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership qualities with proven strategic planning and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly SAP or equivalent aviation financial software.
- Familiarity with IFRS and aviation-specific tax legislation is advantageous.
