Job description
About the Role
The Field Security Officer position is based in Tripoli, Libya, starting from 1st September 2026. This role demands a university degree or equivalent professional experience relevant to security management, international relations, humanitarian operations, risk advisory, or allied areas. The candidate must possess a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in security, risk advisory, or operational roles within complex, fragile, or conflict-affected zones, with essential fluency in both Arabic and English.
The role involves delivering practical, on-the-ground security support to maintain safe, consistent program delivery within an operationally challenging environment. It requires interpreting dynamic security conditions, assessing risks within context, and offering clear, actionable guidance for the operational teams, closely aligned with CTG’s global risk strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Constantly monitor and analyze the security landscape in Libya, including political and armed dynamics, community factors, and access issues.
- Identify shifts in risk profiles and behavioural trends, producing concise operational updates indicating changes and implications.
- Advise staff and consultants on movement planning—covering routes, timing, posture, and contingencies—based on real-time field intelligence.
- Deliver tailored security briefings and inductions that promote awareness and practical risk management among personnel.
- Engage extensively with security counterparts such as client security teams, IOM, UNDSS, and coordination platforms to support operational efficacy.
- Support immediate response and coordination for security incidents, ensuring proper escalation and thorough after-action analyses.
- Assist in preparing and updating operationally relevant security policies, SOPs, and procedures, ensuring ease of use for field teams and minimizing unnecessary complexities.
- Offer coaching and continuous advice to enhance staff security awareness and application, identifying gaps and suggesting operational improvements.
Candidate Requirements
- Educational qualifications: University degree or equivalent experience in relevant disciplines (security management, international relations, etc.).
- Professional experience: 3-5 years in security, risk advisory, or operational support in fragile or conflict-affected environments; proven ability to work with complex stakeholders; experience in incident management under pressure is desirable.
- Geographical experience: Minimum 2 years working in the MENA region.
- Languages: Fluent in Arabic and English, both essential.
- Skills in budget and operational asset management in transport sectors are considered a plus.
- Proven capability to build trust in sensitive environments and strong contextual judgement.
Additional Information
- Travel: Occasional field travel, including to remote or challenging locations.
- Work hours: Flexibility is required for irregular hours, emergency support during weekends and holidays.
- The position reports operationally to the Regional Operations Manager and functionally to the Global Risk Director.
