Overview
SOAR Community Services is seeking a Facilities Assistant to join their Facilities Team at their Brantford, Ontario location. This full-time role involves maintaining safe, welcoming, and efficient environments across over 10 sites, supporting both staff and clients.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The position entails a 37.5-hour workweek, primarily Monday through Friday with some flexibility. The annual salary starts at $41,535.
Core Responsibilities
- Utilize an automated ticketing system to manage and prioritize maintenance tasks.
- Maintain open and effective communication with team members and agency staff.
- Identify and execute preventative maintenance opportunities to avoid emergencies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve facility issues promptly.
- Conduct general maintenance including painting, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, drywall, and appliance fixes.
- Perform seasonal outdoor yard work such as mowing, weeding, salting, and snow shoveling.
- Assist with moving and installation of office furniture.
- Support compliance and inspection efforts related to AODA equipment, fire safety, and generators.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in general maintenance work.
- Familiarity with Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Basic knowledge of residential electrical and plumbing systems.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with capacity to operate agency vehicles for multi-site travel.
