About the Role
SRG Global is looking for a meticulous and experienced SMP (Structural, Mechanical, and Piping) Estimator to join their Asset Maintenance Services team. This position plays a crucial part in supporting capital projects by preparing precise and competitive tenders related to structural, mechanical, and piping scopes of work. Reporting directly to the Site Superintendent, the role involves developing comprehensive bid proposals in partnership with engineers, suppliers, and clients to ensure technically sound and commercially viable submissions. This is a full-time onsite role that offers an engaging workplace and the chance to impact project success and contribute to business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to clearly define project scope.
- Generate first-principles estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and indirect costs within SMP disciplines.
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and assess commercial terms.
- Conduct site inspections to verify work conditions and validate construction planning.
- Lead internal bid presentations featuring detailed scope categorizations and commercial reasoning.
- Develop and maintain thorough estimating spreadsheets, cost databases, and bid documentation.
- Brief project delivery teams on the project scope, methods, and budgetary assumptions during handover.
- Identify opportunities to incorporate innovations, efficiencies, and added value during the tendering process.
- Keep abreast of industry developments, market pricing trends, and best practices to improve estimate precision.
- Adhere strictly to SRG Global's procedures and quality standards for tender submissions.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in estimating structural, mechanical, and piping works, especially within industrial or maintenance environments.
- Strong skills in first-principles estimating and detailed quantity take-offs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, engaging effectively with engineering, procurement, and delivery teams.
- A keen eye for detail combined with strong analytical skills and commercial understanding.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and relevant estimating software.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in trades or construction practicals.
- Familiarity with shutdowns or asset maintenance scenarios.
