Position Overview
This opportunity is for an Enterprise Government Relations Manager specializing in State Relations, based in the United States and working remotely. The role focuses on nurturing and enhancing connections with key stakeholders in state-level education policy and administration to support educational initiatives and government relations strategies across designated regions.
Key Duties and Accountabilities
- Formulate and implement strategic plans to elevate organizational presence and drive education-focused government relations at the state level.
- Partner with internal business units, including sales and cross-functional teams, to craft and deploy state-specific strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Establish and sustain relationships with officials in state Departments of Education and influential education policy leaders.
- Act as the principal liaison between internal teams and state educational agencies, enhancing communication and cooperative efforts.
- Arrange and participate in meetings, presentations, and engagements with prominent education stakeholders to advance the organization’s goals.
- Advise state stakeholders on education priorities, challenges, policies, and initiatives impacting students and educators.
- Support state-level contract and partnership prospects by offering policy insights and strategic advice.
- Identify relevant education policies that influence business interests and develop responsive strategies.
- Track educational policy trends, providing timely analysis and best practices to internal teams.
- Represent the organization at conferences, industry events, and through partner collaborations.
- Contribute to messaging, positioning, and communication materials linked to government relations efforts.
- Assist in policy implementation discussions and reinforce relations with governmental partners.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is mandatory; a graduate degree in education, public policy, or related disciplines is desirable.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in senior leadership roles related to government relations, education policy, or comparable positions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of education policy frameworks, functions of state governments, and processes in public sector decision-making.
- Experience engaging with state education agencies, policy formations, funding mechanisms, or regulatory guidance is favored.
- Existing networks or relationships with stakeholders in state Departments of Education are preferred.
- Proven leadership capabilities for coordinating cross-departmental initiatives and managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Analytical proficiency to discern trends and synthesize data from diverse inputs.
- Superior communication skills encompassing negotiation, presentations, and interpersonal interactions.
- Ability to establish trusted partnerships internally and externally.
- Strong organizational aptitude to handle several projects in a dynamic, remote-first working environment.
- A customer-oriented approach accompanied by excellent written and oral communication skills.
